Mass rallies held across Iran to commemorate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution

tehran (Uttam Hindu News): Mass rallies were held across Iran on Sunday to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the victory of the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The rallies were also attended by the country’s officials and military commanders, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. It started at 9:00 am local time in 1,400 cities and 35,000 villages of the country.
According to the report of Xinhua news agency, people marched from 13 places in the capital Tehran towards Azadi Square, where Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi gave a speech.
According to a statement published on the website of his office, Raisi said the “vigilant, practical and aware” people of the country have managed to overcome all the problems caused by the “enemies”.
He said that Iran is neither dependent on the East nor the West and it takes decisions and acts on its own.
He also condemned “Israeli crimes committed in Gaza with the support of Western states claiming to be pro-human rights.”
During rallies in Tehran, people chanted slogans and carried banners with similar slogans in support of Iran, its Islamic revolution and the Palestinians. He also condemned America and Israel.
On the routes of the rallies, several domestic missiles and a launch vehicle called Simorgh were put on display.
The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran overthrew the US-backed Shah regime and brought the country under the leadership of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
