May 9 becomes a noose for Imran Khan, case against violence will go on in army court

Ongoing crisis in Pakistan The country’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan would be tried in a military court for the incidents of May 9 violence. The development comes amid a government crackdown on Khan’s opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party and its supporters over violent protests following Khan’s arrest in Islamabad earlier this month.

In an interview, Sanaullah accused Imran of personally planning attacks on military installations before the day of his arrest and said there was evidence to prove the claim. Asked whether Imran would be produced before a military court, Sanaullah said, “Of course, why not him?” The program they planned and then executed to target military installations, I think is a matter for a military court.

The Home Minister accused the PTI chief of personally organizing the May 9 riots. They (PTI supporters) raised slogans that ‘Imran Khan is our red line’, and the planning and preparations were done at the initiative and instigation of Imran Khan. He did all this. He is the mastermind of all this discord. He also said there was evidence to back the allegation. Asked how Imran was able to communicate with his party leaders from jail as well, the home minister replied that all this planning was done before he went to jail as to ‘who would do what and where.
