In a tweet, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said Prime Minister Modi arrived in the vibrant city of Sydney on his second visit to Australia. “Looking forward to two days of constructive dialogue with Australian leadership, the industry community and members of the diaspora,” he said. Ahead of Modi’s arrival, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement: I look forward to hosting Prime Minister Modi on an official visit to Australia, following the extremely warm welcome he received in India at the start of 2015. It is a matter of honor for me.
Amidst China’s aggressive behavior in the region and its efforts to expand its influence, Albanese said, “Australia and India share our commitment to a stable, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific. Together we have an important role to play in supporting this vision.” Prime Minister Modi has also said that he looks forward to his meeting with Albanese on 24 May. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told the media that all issues related to bilateral ties would be discussed, including issues related to harmony in society and security of both societies.

I also had the opportunity to interact with respected leaders of FIPIC and discuss ways to deepen ties with their respective countries.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2016 Census, 6,19,164 people in Australia declared that they are of Indian origin. These are 2.8 per cent of the Australian population. 5,92,000 of them were born in India. Prime Minister Modi last visited Australia in 2014. Modi began his three-nation tour from Japan on Friday, where he attended three sessions of the G-7 summit following an invitation from his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida. Modi along with US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese also attended the Quad summit in Hiroshima.
