Rafah. Gaza’s Health Ministry has said that more than 29 thousand Palestinians have been killed in the area since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. The Health Ministry of Hamas-ruled Gaza said on Monday that 107 bodies had been brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since the beginning of the war to 29,092. The ministry did not say how many civilians and how many fighters were killed. However, he said that most of those killed included women and children.
The ministry said that more than 69 thousand Palestinians were injured. On October 7, Hamas extremists attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people while about 250 were taken hostage. After the Hamas attack, Israel started a war against Gaza. During a week-long ceasefire in November, Hamas released more than 100 hostages in exchange for 240 Palestinians. 130 hostages are still held by the extremists, a quarter of whom are feared dead.
On Sunday, Benny Gantz, a retired general and member of Netanyahu’s three-member war cabinet, warned that attacks in Rafah could also be carried out if the hostages were not freed by the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan is expected to start around March 10.
