Mumbai Police action in Mahadev betting app scam, FIR registered against Dabur Group heads

Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): After politicians and film personalities, the names of Dabur Group chairman Mohit V. Burman and director Gaurav V. Burman have come on the radar of Mumbai Police probing the Mahadev App betting scam, official sources said on Tuesday. Informed. The Burman duo of renowned ayurvedic giant Dabur Group have been named in the betting app FIR filed by the Mumbai Police on November 7, and are among the 31 accused, including Bollywood actor Sahil Khan and other unidentified persons.
Dabur Group is yet to comment on the development and despite repeated attempts, no official was available for comment. The first complaint was lodged by social activist Prakash Bankar with the Matunga Police, in which it was claimed that thousands of people have been defrauded of more than Rs 15 thousand crore through the betting app. Matunga police have registered an FIR invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Gambling Act, IT Act and further investigation is underway, although many names are emerging.
Along with this, the Mahadav app is also being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for its widespread influence among politicians, glamor celebrities and now even corporates, sending shockwaves through these sectors. Just ten days ago, acting on an ED petition, the Center had blocked 22 illegal betting sites, including Mahadev App, which was promoted and run by Bhilai-based Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal and others.
The issue first came into limelight when ED claimed that Mahadev App had allegedly paid over Rs 500 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The matter is under investigation amid allegations by leaders of the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party amid assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. Apart from Sahil Khan, other Bollywood celebrities who allegedly used or promoted Mahadev app are under investigation.
