In 2009, 47-year-old Wiseman was selected by NASA. NASA had originally planned to have a pool of 18 pilots, but Wiseman increased it to 41. The Artemis II mission is being built on the basis of Artemis I, which flew last December without any astronauts.

NASA has declared this Artemis I mission a success and is still investigating all its data. If all goes well, the Artemis II mission will be launched in November 2024. Sitting inside this vehicle, astronauts will go to the moon and beyond. It is believed that this journey will last for about 10 days. This will be the longest journey in the history of mankind. Although how much this total distance will be, it has not been disclosed yet. This vehicle will return to Earth after circling the Moon and will land in the Pacific Ocean. This would clear the way for the Artemis III mission and humans would be able to land on the moon again.
