Seoul. National security advisers from South Korea and Japan will meet in Seoul this week to discuss the growing military threat from North Korea and other regional security issues. South Korea’s presidential office said Cho Tae-yong, director of its National Security Office, met in Seoul on Saturday with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Takio Akiba, secretary-general of Japan’s National Security Secretariat, to meet with North Korea and North Korea on security, technology and trade. Will host a three-tier meeting for in-depth discussion on other related matters. Cho will also hold bilateral meetings with Sullivan and Akiba on Friday. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the meetings would be driven by a “robust agenda of discussion on regional issues of mutual concern, particularly the security environment.” Japan’s Prime Minister’s Office said topics of discussion on North Korea would include the recent launch of its first military reconnaissance satellite, which North Korean leader Kim Jong Un says is important for monitoring US and South Korean military activities.
