Navy responded to the attack on the ship in the Arabian Sea

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): The Indian Navy has responded to the missile and drone attack on the MT Chem Pluto ship in the Arabian Sea.
According to the Defense Ministry, at around 7.45 am on December 23, a fire was reported on board the ship with 22 crew (21 Indians and one Vietnamese) after being hit by a missile or drone-like object. Responding quickly, the Indian Navy diverted a maritime patrol aircraft operating in the area for routine surveillance. The Indian Navy also diverted Indian Naval Ship Mormugao to assess the situation and provide assistance to MT Chem Pluto.
Naval maritime patrol aircraft flew to MT Chem Pluto on 23 December and established contact with the crew. The crew reported that all 22 on board were safe and the fire had been extinguished. The Navy also briefed all Indian maritime agencies on the current situation to provide necessary assistance.
Indian Naval Ship Mormugao contacted MT Chem Pluto on 23 December to ascertain whether any assistance was required. CGS Vikram, who was present at the spot, was also instructed to take the ship to Mumbai. Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts will be on board MV Chem Pluto when it reaches Mumbai to clean the ship and conduct further investigation.
The Defense Ministry says the Indian Navy is monitoring the situation very closely with all stakeholders and is committed to ensuring the safety of merchant shipping in the region.
