Washington (Uttam Hindu News): A spokesperson for the US State Department has said that approximately a thousand US citizens and their family members have left Israel.
Speaking to CNN on Monday, the spokesperson said that starting October 13, the government had “offered the repatriation of US citizens and their family members by air and sea.” Flights carrying civilians were expected to continue from Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport until at least Thursday, the spokesman said.
“We will continue to monitor the demand from US citizens for assistance in departure from Israel on a real-time basis,” the spokesperson told CNN. “We urge those American citizens who wish to return home.”
According to the spokesperson, more than 3,000 additional US citizens have said they “exited Israel and the West Bank by commercial air travel, land border or other means.” Meanwhile, Americans in Gaza told CNN they had no trouble entering Egypt through the Rafah crossing.
