Addressing the G7 session here, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today we stand at an important turning point in history. We have to listen to the call of the earth. We have to change ourselves, and change our behavior accordingly.

Describing climate change, environmental security and energy security as the biggest challenges, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that there is a need to increase the scope of discussion and change behavior to solve these problems. Addressing the G7 session here, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today we stand at an important turning point in history. We have to listen to the call of the earth. We have to change ourselves, and change our behavior accordingly.” Modi said that one of the obstacles in facing these challenges is that people look at climate change only from the perspective of energy.

He said that the scope of discussion should be increased. He said that India has created institutional solutions for the whole world like ‘Mission Life’, ‘International Solar Alliance’, ‘Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure’, ‘Mission Hydrogen’, ‘Biofuel Alliance’, ‘Big Cat Alliance’. Modi said, we are moving fast towards our goal of net zero by 2070. Our vast railway network has decided to reach Net Zero by 2030. Presently, the installed capacity of renewable energy in India is around 175 GW. By 2030 it will reach 500 GW.

Referring to the status of Mother Earth in Indian civilization, he said, “We consider all our efforts as our responsibility towards the earth.” He said environmental commitments are not a hindrance, but a catalyst in India’s journey of development. . Modi said that while moving towards climate action, countries have to make green and clean technology supply chains resilient. “If we do not provide technology transfer and affordable funding to countries in need, our discussions will only remain discussions,” he said. There will be no change on the ground. The Prime Minister said that the people of India are aware of the environment and understand their responsibility. This sense of responsibility has been flowing in our veins for centuries, he said. India is fully prepared to contribute together with all.
