What will happen in China’s Silk Roadster project?

China will complete the Silk Roadster project in Nepal with the help of various political parties and social organizations of Nepal. Two leaders of the Communist Party from China were also present in this programme. Leaders of KP Oli’s party attended the event. He said that earlier we were told that BRI is related to big infrastructure projects, connectivity, ports, railways, airports, power plants etc. but now China has also included small projects in it. This includes imparting training, capacity building, scholarships and short term exchanges.

The leader of Oli’s party said that this could be a withdrawal from the BRI in a way. This new project is still in the initial stage and due to this, it is not known what will be the reaction of the political parties and government of Nepal regarding this. We do not even know whether there is a contradiction between the Chinese program and the policies of the Government of Nepal. It is believed that through this Silk Roadster project, China wants to increase its influence in the countries of South Asia and Southeast Asia. Earlier, China had claimed that the BRI project has started in Nepal but the Prachanda government had rejected it inside the Parliament.
