Kathmandu, 07 November (HS). The two-day border security coordination meeting between security officials of Nepal and India, which began on Monday in New Delhi, will end on Tuesday evening. In this meeting, the issue of entry of a person from a third country into India through Nepal was raised from the Indian side, citing the example of Seema Haider.
Nepal is being represented by Inspector General of Armed Guard Force (APF) Raju Aryal in this meeting being held under the aegis of Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). While SSB Director General Rashmi Shukla is leading the Indian side. In this two-day security coordination meeting, APF IGP Raju Aryal gave information about the challenges faced during border security and exchange of experiences to solve them. He has said that the main objective of this meeting is to discuss various dimensions related to border security.
IGP Aryal says that due to the open border, the biggest challenge is for criminals to cross the border by committing criminal incidents. Along with this, discussions are being held on how to coordinate between the two security bodies, from drug trade to bringing in illegal goods.
The issue of entry of third country persons into India through Nepal was raised by SSB. Citing the example of Pakistani woman Seema Haider’s easy entry into India through Nepal, SSB has stressed on keeping a special vigil in this regard. SSB officials participating in the meeting stressed on regular coordination to face and deal with new challenges every day during border security.
From Nepal’s side also, APF IGP Raju Aryal said that almost a consensus has been reached regarding real time intelligence sharing. After the meeting which will last till Tuesday evening, a joint statement will be issued from both sides and official information about the decisions taken in the meeting will be given.
