Former Prime Ministers Baburam Bhattarai and KP Oli had given poisonous statements against India regarding this whole matter and sought answers from the Prachanda government. The Kathmandu Post newspaper quoted a Nepalese embassy official posted in New Delhi as saying that on Monday the Prachanda government had instructed India’s foreign ministry to seek answers about the graffiti in the Indian Parliament. Earlier, PM Modi had inaugurated the new Parliament building on 28 May.
India gave clarification, yet Nepali leaders are not accepting it
Along with the political parties of Nepal, the Mayor of Kathmandu, Balen Shah also gave a poisonous statement against this map. Shah had got a map of Greater Nepal installed in his office, in which many areas of UP, Bihar and Himachal were shown as belonging to Nepal. Apart from Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan had also raised objections regarding this map. Taxila is also shown in this map which is now in Pakistan. KP Oli and Baburam Bhattarai, who danced at the behest of China regarding this whole matter, strongly protested and asked the Prachanda government to take up this whole matter with India.
On the other hand, the Embassy of Nepal has already sent its report that this mural shows only the cultural aspect of the Ashoka Empire. It has historical and cultural importance. It has nothing to do with the reality of the present day. India has made it clear that this is a cultural map showing Ashoka’s empire. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has also clearly said that this is not a political map. Even after this, under the pressure of Nepal’s opposition parties, now Prachanda government is going to demand answers from India on Akhand Bharat.
