Jajarkot district of Nepal was shaken by strong earthquake at midnight on Friday. At least 128 people have died due to this earthquake. According to the official ‘Nepal Television’, 80 people died and more than 140 people were injured in Jajarkot and Rukum districts of western Nepal. According to the news, the epicenter of the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Nepal was in Lamidanda in Jajarkot district. The impact of the earthquake that occurred at 11:47 pm on Friday night was felt in Kathmandu, its surrounding districts and even in the neighboring country of India, Delhi. Apart from Delhi, earthquake tremors were felt in many states.

It was told by the PMO that Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ left for the incident site with a medical team on Saturday morning. Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been deployed in rescue operations. According to the news being broadcast on the government ‘Nepal Television’, Jajarkot and Rukum districts of western Nepal were most affected due to the earthquake. The Home Ministry said that 128 people died and 140 others were injured in both the districts. It is not yet known how many houses were damaged due to the earthquake. There is a fear that the death toll will increase.

All three security agencies of the country – Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed in rescue operations. The Prime Minister’s Office wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has expressed deep condolence over the loss of life and property in the earthquake that occurred on Friday night. He has deployed all three security bodies for immediate relief and rescue.

Nepal government officials said that the injured are being treated at Surkhet District Hospital. The Prime Minister has instructed the security agencies to carry out rescue and relief work immediately. He said that due to blocked roads and damaged bridges, rescue and relief work at the incident site has been disrupted.
