Cairo. Egypt on Thursday unveiled a long corridor found inside the Giza pyramids. This corridor is found in the northern part of the pyramid. Officials said that this corridor, about 30 feet long and six feet wide, is located above the main entrance of the famous pyramid. At present, no information has been found about the use of the corridor. However, the discovery of such corridors often helps in future archaeological finds.
Egyptian archaeologist Jahi Hawass and the country’s tourism minister Ahmed Isa announced the discovery of a corridor in the pyramid. The corridor was discovered under the international program ‘Scan Pyramid Project’. Under this program, those parts of the ancient structure were investigated, where exploration had not been done before.
The pyramid, located about 11 miles from Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is also called the Pyramid of Khufu after the name of its builder. Khufu was the second pharaoh (king) of the Fourth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, who ruled from 2509 to 2483 BCE. The Giza Pyramids are the last wonder of the ancient world that still exists. It was built about 4,500 years ago as a royal burial site. A large number of tourists come to see it.
