South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles would have been fired near Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, but did not say how far the missiles would go. North Korea last month tested a cubic-fuel engine for its new, intermediate-range hypersonic missile.
Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un flew a rocket capable of launching unguided rockets designed to take aim at the South Korean capital.
The Japanese Coast Guard said the missiles had already landed in the water. However, ships going to Bhagatun have been advised to exercise caution.
