Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan has accepted that he has no evidence to level allegations of conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, top government officials and the army chief. Addressing a press conference here, Sanaullah said that Khan, who heads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, leveled allegations of conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Sharif, himself and senior officers of the Pakistan Army without any reason. .
He said Sanaullah criticized Khan for making baseless allegations against the prime minister, interior minister and army chief that they wanted to kill him. Khan was asked to produce evidence, but he failed to produce any. Khan, 70, has claimed in recent months that some members of the ruling government have hatched an assassination plot against him. Khan narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on him in November last year when his party’s ‘Hakiki Azadi’ march had reached Wazirabad in Punjab province. Khan, who was hit by several bullets in his leg, was operated upon.
Khan, who is facing multiple legal cases, has also sought exemption from appearance in the court as there is a possibility that the conspirators will use this opportunity to kill him. Khan attended a probe session conducted by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on his allegations against top army officers and was shown all the videos in which he made allegations against top government and army officials.
