This information has been revealed in a report released on Monday. The report titled “Pakistan Internet Landscape 2022” was released by Bytes for All, a human rights organization. The report talks about human rights and information and communication technologies in Pakistan in the past year. According to the report, “In terms of internet access and overall governance, there has been some improvement in Pakistan, but in the world context, the country is among the worst performing, even in Asia.”
According to the report, despite the increase in internet penetration, about 15 per cent of the population still does not have access to internet and mobile or telecom services. According to this, there was a steady increase in cyber crime in Pakistan. Over 100,000 complaints were registered till December 2022, the highest in the last five years. According to the report, Pakistan ranked lowest among 22 countries in Asia in terms of internet access.
