Pakistan Crisis Shehbaz: Poverty prevails in Pakistan, people’s standard of living is falling… but Shehbaz Sharif is increasing the size of the cabinet – pakistan crisis news shehbaz sharif criticized for huge size of cabinet amid severe economic situation
Islamabad : Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has recently formed a bigger cabinet than before. His move has been widely condemned. Experts said it was an ‘insensitive’ move. This is an insult to taxpayers in the midst of an economic crisis. Sharif has been talking about ‘savings’ since coming to power in April last year, but without laying down clear criteria and procedures, the cabinet has been expanded by inducting more people as special assistants to the prime minister, The Express Tribune reported. The continuous expansion has ‘raised eyebrows’ of many people.
Former senator and lawyer Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and former minister of state and chairman of Pakistan’s Board of Investment (BOI) Haroon Sharif, among others, lashed out at the PML-N-led ruling coalition for being ‘against the public’. He called for a cut in the size of the cabinet amid the worst ever financial crisis. The former senator said, “The government has shown real insensitivity by appointing many more SAPMs at a time when the country is going through one of the worst financial crises in its history.” Pakistan Economy Crisis: Jihad, Radicalism, Terrorism… Pauper’s knife cut all the hands of Pakistan, now there is no danger for India!
‘The ruling elite is cut off from the public’
He said that the common man is left with no financial resources to run his daily life with dignity. Reacting to the coalition government’s federal cabinet having 85 members, Khokhar said it shows that the ‘ruling elite is not only deaf but also cut off from the people to such an extent that they are not even aware of the options they have to offer’. There was no information regarding meeting the kitchen expenses as well as paying their bills, rent and children’s school fees for which people are being forced. He said that this show off is just eyewash.
