Over 800,000 Pakistanis left the country

Seeing the plight of Pakistan, the people there have started running away from the country. There has been a sudden spurt in the number of people going abroad from Pakistan. According to the latest data, a record 832,339 Pakistanis are expected to leave the country in 2022, the highest since 2016. According to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, a department of state that regulates overseas employment, there is an almost 200% increase in the number of Pakistanis leaving the country in 2022 as compared to 2021. Of the 832,339 people who migrated, 90,000 were skilled manpower, including doctors, engineers, information technology specialists, accountants, agriculturists, managers and others. While 799,507 went to the Middle East, including 514,909 to Saudi Arabia, 128,477 to the UAE, 82,380 to Oman, 57,999 to Qatar, 13,653 to Bahrain and 2,089 to Kuwait. Most of the workforce moved out of Punjab, so 460,302, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 225,272 left.

Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing in Pakistan

Pakistan is facing its worst economic crisis. Citizens in the South Asian nation may be in for a shock. Local media reports indicate that petrol and diesel prices are likely to be increased by Rs 32 per liter from February 16. Petroleum, oil and lubricants prices have increased further and remain at around Rs 272 for the next fortnight . This may force the government to hike the prices of petrol and diesel again. Official and industry sources cited in the reports indicate that petrol prices may increase by up to 12.8 per cent or PKR 32.07. This will take the effective price to around PKR 282 per liter as compared to PKR 250. Similarly, diesel prices may increase by 12.5 per cent or from PKR 32.84 to PKR 295.64 as compared to PKR 262.8. Not only petrol and diesel, but also the prices of other essential commodities including milk and meat are skyrocketing in Pakistan. It is reported that citizens of the cash-strapped nation are currently buying milk at PKR 210 per litre, while a kilo of chicken costs Rs 700-800. Meanwhile, the price of boneless meat has now touched a high of 1,000-1,100 Pakistani rupees per kg.
