Shahbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif is going to become PM for the fourth time by the will of God after the elections (February 8, 2024). He said that we have made Pakistan economically strong again under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
Pakistan’s election body accepted the nomination of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the 2024 national elections. This means that no objection has been raised to the candidature of 73-year-old Nawaz Sharif as he will now contest from both Lahore and Mansahra city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His younger brother and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that Nawaz Sharif is going to become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan for a record fourth time after the general elections in February. Shahbaz Sharif said that Nawaz Sharif is going to become PM for the fourth time by the will of God after the elections (February 8, 2024). He said that we have made Pakistan economically strong again under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
Nawaz Sharif was banned from contesting elections in 2017 by the Supreme Court, which declared him dishonest for not disclosing income from a company owned by his son. A court overturned two corruption convictions against Nawaz Sharif, who returned home in October from four years of self-imposed exile in London. His biggest challenge will be to win back his support base from his main rival, former cricket hero Imran Khan, who remains popular even after stepping down from the premiership in 2022.
Imran Khan has been disqualified from the elections due to corruption charges, against which he has appealed. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had alleged that Nawaz Sharif had returned to the country under the ‘London Plan’ according to which the military establishment would make him the prime minister.
