Khwaja Asif gave this statement in conversation with Indian news channel WION in Pakistan. He was asked about ‘rumours of Emergency in Pakistan’. The minister replied, “If the situation continues like this, then Emergency can be a constitutional option but there is no possibility of imposing martial law in the country.” Questioning the Supreme Court’s order to release Imran Khan, Khwaja Asif said, ‘Why are there two standards in this country? The court should have taken suo motu cognizance of the deployment of the army but it was not done.
‘Imran got all the facilities from the court’
Pointing a finger at the Supreme Court, he said, ‘Nawaz Sharif, Zardari, Maryam, I… none of us got any facility. The apex court has given all facilities to Imran. Khwaja Asif targeted the Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial. On Thursday, the Supreme Court declared Imran Khan’s arrest illegal and ordered his immediate release. Imran has been kept at the Islamabad Police Lines Guest House and will be produced before the High Court on Friday.
Imran’s lawyers had challenged
On May 9, Imran Khan was arrested from the premises of the Islamabad High Court. The Rangers took him into custody and handed him over to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
