Pakistan: Explosion in Khujdar, Balochistan, two killed, eight injured

Quetta : At least two people were killed and eight others were injured in a blast in Khujdar district of Balochistan in Pakistan on Tuesday night. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhuttozardari has termed this incident as a terrorist incident. Khujdar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fahad Khosa was quoted as saying by Dawn newspaper that the blast took place on Sultan Road near Do Talwar Chowk.
He said the bomb was attached to the underside of the vehicle with a magnet and then detonated through a remote control device. Naveed Shahwani, 20, son of Dawn correspondent Wahid Shahwani, and Amanullah, a businessman, were killed in the blast, while eight others were injured, he said. The SSP said that preliminary reports revealed that the terrorists targeted the businessman and carried out the incident.
Foreign Minister Bhutto in a statement condemned the terrorist attack. He said that those who target innocent people have nothing to do with any country or religion or religion. He said that Pakistan and its government are committed to ending terrorism. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo also strongly condemned the attack and expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives and expressed his condolences to their families.
He said, “Terrorists are targeting innocent people. The plot to destabilize the province through terror and anarchy will be foiled. Everyone should condemn terrorism. We have to fight unitedly against terrorists. He directed the concerned authorities to further strengthen the security in Khujdar. Significantly, two police officers were killed while two others were seriously injured in a similar blast in Khujdar last month.
