The Taliban opened the Torkham Gate on Thursday but Pakistan has suffered heavy losses as thousands of trucks got stuck for several days. Pakistani exporters had to pay thousands of rupees late fine (Demurrage Charges) on a daily basis due to the containers getting stuck on the way to Afghanistan. Along with this, there was also the concern of rotting of food items. A late fee of Rs 45,000 was being imposed everyday on each container of sugar. At the same time, a fee of $ 160 per day was being imposed on a container filled with transit goods.
