A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) set up by the interim government of Punjab to investigate the arson attacks on Jinnah House (Corps Commander House) and Askari Corporate Tower in Lahore on 9 May, had summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan. Khan has been summoned. Khan gave this information today through reliable sources. Several days of street protests followed Khan’s arrest earlier this month. Following this, security forces launched a crackdown against the party following attacks on civilian and military institutions including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House. After which the process of PTI leaders leaving the party started.
At least eight people were killed in violent protests in the country. Punjab’s Home Department has constituted 10 separate Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) to probe the attacks and violent protests that took place on May 9, which the Army termed as “Black Day”.
Sources said that the ousted prime minister was named in several FIRs lodged in different police stations of the province. As per media reports, the JIT is headed by DIG Adil and includes Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation City Division Lahore Dr Raza Tanveer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)/SP-AVLS Lahore Raza Zahid, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lahore .
