The IMF also rejected Shehbaz Sharif’s plea and rejected the loan request. Experts say that Pakistan has no option but to appeal to the IMF once again. Last year in Pakistan, the rate of inflation was 13.76 percent in the month of May, but now it has reached its highest level. The Shahbaz government in Pakistan had brought the new Finance Minister Ishaq Dar with the hope that he would be able to control inflation and get loans from the IMF, but he has proved to be a complete failure.
Pakistan overtakes Sri Lanka in inflation
The Pakistan of Jinnah’s dreams has now become the most inflationary country in Asia. Till now Sri Lanka had the highest inflation but Pakistan has left it behind. In Pakistan, where inflation is increasing continuously, in Sri Lanka it is coming down rapidly for the last 8 months. The inflation rate in Sri Lanka stood at 25.2 per cent in May, compared to 35.3 per cent in April. Meanwhile, after the closure of the loan route from the IMF, the danger of Pakistan’s default like Sri Lanka is now looming large.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said on Thursday that the IMF is not yet ready to give loan to Pakistan. He said that our government does not have any plan B other than the IMF programme. He admitted that the IMF is not getting ready to give loan even after his constant requests. Saudi Arabia and UAE have promised $3 billion to Pakistan but even after many days have not received their money. Due to this, the trouble of Pakistan is increasing.
