Tension between the Supreme Court and the government
The Supreme Court termed Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9 as ‘illegal’ and referred the matter to the Islamabad High Court. On this relief, the entire government, including Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif, targeted the Chief Justice. Shahbaz had said that if you have to give relief to your ‘beloved’ (Imran Khan), then also release the dacoits lodged in the jails of the country. He raised the question that why this leniency was not shown by the court towards his elder brother and former Prime Minister of the country, Nawaz Sharif.
