Pakistan: Suicide attack in Kabal’s police station, 13 killed, more than 40 injured

Pakistan Police Station Attack: At least 13 people were killed and over 40 injured in a suicide attack on a police station in Pakistan’s restive northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday. The authorities informed about this incident. The blast took place at the Kabal police station in Swat Valley. There is also a counter terrorism department and a mosque in the police station premises. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan said that security officials are on high alert across the province.
12 people died, more than 40 people were injured
At least 13 people, including eight policemen, were killed and over 40 injured in a suspected suicide attack at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Swat’s Kabal on Monday, Dawn newspaper quoted police as saying. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. However, in recent months the Pakistani Taliban have claimed similar attacks after ending a ceasefire with the government. According to the report, this deadly attack took place at 8:20 in the night.
State of emergency declared in hospitals
Earlier, District Police Officer (DPO) Shafi Ullah Gandapur said that there were two explosions inside the police station, which destroyed the building, Geo News reported. Police said that many people have been buried under the debris. Whereas, the injured are being taken to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital. Meanwhile, emergency was declared in all the nearby hospitals.

Home Minister Rana Sanaullah condemned the blast and expressed grief over the loss of lives. He said- terrorism will be uprooted soon. Radio Pakistan reported that KP’s Acting Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has also strongly condemned the blast and directed the concerned authorities to speed up the rescue and relief operations.
