If this is to be believed, Hina Rabbani’s warning to the PM is that Pakistan needs to avoid the feeling of ‘pleasing’ the West. Hina warned the PM that the country could no longer attempt to maintain a wedge between regional neighbors China and the US. In a memo, Khar argued that Pakistan’s attempt to preserve its partnership with the US would sacrifice a genuine strategic relationship with China.

According to this document, dated February 17, PM Sharif is discussing with an unnamed junior on the voting in the United Nations (UN) on the Ukraine conflict. Pakistan was among the 32 countries that abstained during the UN General Assembly vote on 23 February. Pakistani officials named in the leaked documents, as well as officials from other countries, declined to comment, according to The Washington Post. The leak comes at a time when the US has already confirmed that it has no objection to Pakistan’s decision to import oil from Russia.
