Pakistan Wagah Crisis: People of Pakistan forgot ‘patriotism’ in Bengali! 64 year old tradition has become an embarrassment for Pak Army
[ad_1]
The Wagah-Attari border connects two major cities of Punjab in both the countries. This border is known for the flag hoisting ceremonies that take place everyday. Soldiers and BSF personnel from both the sides take part in this parade and respectfully lower the flags of their respective countries. Till now thousands of citizens have been coming from both sides of the border to participate in this parade. This parade is famous for the enthusiasm of the soldiers and the enthusiasm of the spectators. In India where people are still reaching to cheer their soldiers, in Pakistan most of the chairs are seen empty.
Only 3 thousand visitors come even on holidays
The stadium built in Pakistan has a seating capacity of 10,000 people. But these days only 1500 to 2000 people are coming to watch the parade. When Sunday is a holiday, this number reaches a maximum of 3000. At the same time, the capacity of the stadium built in India is 25 thousand and the number of spectators coming here is much more than that of Pakistan. The economic crisis is the main reason behind the decrease in the number of visitors at the Wagah border in Pakistan. Some citizens believe that people are avoiding going to the border because of the law and order situation.
Pakistan Bankrupt: Bankrupt Pakistan, why good news for India
Poverty affected the patriotism of Pakistanis
The drastic fall in the number of people coming to watch the parade is an indication that poverty in Pakistan has also affected the ‘patriotic feeling’ of the people. Now people are more busy in earning bread for their families than cheering the army or celebrating holidays. The parade is being organized since 1959 as a ‘show of goodwill’ between the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers. The ceremony takes place at the Wagah-Attari border gate, about two hours before sunset.
