The news of relief has come for former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. The High Court has imposed a stay in the Toshakhana case. The court has stayed the trial of the lower court. After this news, the supporters of Imran Khan have heaved a sigh of relief.
Earlier, the Pakistan Supreme Court on Thursday termed Imran Khan’s arrest as illegal and ordered his immediate release. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said that no accused can be arrested from the Supreme Court, High Court or any other court. You cannot disrespect the court. Before the release, the Supreme Court also asked Imran Khan to appeal to his supporters to maintain peace.
Imran is the darling of the Supreme Court: Maryam
Mariam Aurangzeb, a minister in the Shahbaz government, said that Pakistan is burning. Imran’s terrorists burnt ambulance, mosque, school. When the jawans took the court warrant, Imran’s henchmen tore the heads of the policemen, why didn’t you punish this darling (Imran). Had he been punished, the country would not have been burning today.
I was treated like a terrorist: Imran
When asked by the Chief Justice to condemn the violence by the protesters, Khan distanced himself from the entire episode, saying that he was in custody. He said, I was caught as if I am a terrorist. How can I be responsible for the bloody demonstrations? Khan claimed that he was subjected to violence, brutally beaten in custody and treated in a way that is not even meted out to criminals.
