Pakistan’s Prime Minister proposed a five-year plan to improve the country’s economic condition

Islamabad. Pakistan’s new government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to work on a comprehensive five-year blueprint for the economic revival of the cash-strapped country. This was said in a media report on Friday. According to the newspaper Dawn report, this strategic blueprint will focus on curbing inflation, poverty alleviation and employment generation.
Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja said after the meeting, “In the first meeting the Prime Minister sought estimates from various ministries and divisions and sought reforms in Information Technology (IT), Agriculture, Industry, Energy, Food and Livestock, FBR (Federal Board of Revenue). “Formed a committee to go back to the ministries to set five-year targets in various areas like entrepreneurship, ease of doing business etc.” Khawaja said that after receiving necessary information from ministries and departments, the committee will prepare an integrated document with five-year targets for all sectors.
He said that several meetings would be held soon on the five-year blueprint. Earlier, in the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif said that the plan should be consulted with all concerned from different sectors of the economy. According to the official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Shehbaz Sharif said, “The implementation of projects for the economic stability and progress of the country should be ensured without wasting any time.”
The Prime Minister said a schedule of implementation of projects should be presented and steps should be taken on priority basis to accelerate progress in the sectors of agriculture, livestock, information technology, foreign investment and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) . He said that the government will reduce its expenditure and will not allow further wastage of the money of the poor.
