Six people died during the demonstration
The report said that Imran was arrested by the country’s paramilitary forces on Tuesday when he was present in the Islamabad High Court for a hearing in a corruption case. After Imran’s arrest, his PTI supporters staged massive protests across the country. PTI has claimed that at least six people were killed and more than 12 injured in different parts of the country in violent clashes between security forces and PTI.
Imran will be presented in NAB court
The newspaper ‘Dawn’ quoted a source in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as saying that Imran would be presented before the accountability court on Wednesday. The source said that we will make every effort to keep him in custody for at least four-five days. Under the new amendments made in the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, the period of physical custody sanctioned by any court has been reduced from 90 days to 14 days. The source said that we will request the court to allow maximum custody of 14 days.
ISI accuses Imran
A day before the former cricketer’s arrest, the Pakistan Army alleged that Imran was making baseless allegations against a senior officer of the intelligence agency ISI. When asked about the PTI chief’s condition, the source said Imran has been kept in a comfortable environment at the NAB’s Rawalpindi and Islamabad regional headquarters and will not be treated harshly, but will be asked to explain his involvement and monetary benefits in the case. Only inquiries will be made regarding the allegations of receiving. The bureau has also given the details of the case against Imran in an official statement.
PTI will challenge the arrest in the Supreme Court
