BSE consumer durables emerged as the worst performing sector with a loss of over 1%. Notably, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. declined by over 11%. For the second time, BSE Utilities climbed more than one per cent. The contribution of Adani Transmission and Adani Green Energy was more for this as both of them have upper circuit installed today.
At 10:30 am on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rose by 0.06% to reach a level of 60,094. The Nifty 50 index also gained 0.09% to reach the level of 17,760. On Sensex, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and IndusInd Bank were top gainers, while Wipro, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries were top losers.
The advance-decline ratio remained strongly in favor of the gainers, with 1,958 scrips advancing and 1,147 scrips declining on the BSE. BSE Smallcap outperformed the major indices. Shares of JSW Holdings Ltd, top BSE Smallcap gainer, soared over 17%. There was also heavy buying in TruCap Finance Ltd and Ddev Plastiks Industries Ltd shares.
