Peshawar mosque attack: Intelligence agency revealed, the conspiracy was hatched from here

Peshawar: The plot to target a mosque located in a high-security zone in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was hatched in Afghanistan and funded by their intelligence agency. Officials of Pakistan’s security agency investigating this suicide attack gave this information on Tuesday. On January 30, a Taliban suicide bomber killed 101 people and injured more than 200 others at a mosque in Peshawar. A top police official had earlier said that the bike-borne assailant had donned a police uniform to sneak into the high-security area. He had told that the attacker was riding a motorcycle wearing a helmet and a mask.

Investigating officials said the suicide attack at the Peshawar mosque was planned in Afghanistan and funded by the Kabul-based intelligence agency. Officials said the motorcycle used in the blast was sold twice in Peshawar’s congested Sarki Gate market. Police said they have arrested the seller of the motorcycle. Police sources said security agencies have arrested 17 suspects involved in the blast.

Meanwhile, Peshawar’s Anti-Terrorism Department has announced a reward of 10 million Pakistani rupees for information leading to the help of the suicide bomber. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari said the suicide bomber had been identified through his DNA samples. The attacker left his helmet at the gate before entering the heavily guarded mosque. The CCTV footage of his act is with the authorities. He said that the accomplices of this heinous attack would be arrested soon. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack. The organization, however, later distanced itself from the attack.
