Giving this information in a statement on Saturday, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that local people would be involved in this project and their income would increase. He said that the state is blessed with immense forest wealth and there is immense potential for bamboo production.
Sukhu said, “Many sectors such as thermal power, cement and steel were looking for alternatives to fossil fuels to reduce emissions. Scope can be made to include a fuel product made from ‘pine needle’ as a possible alternative. This will also pave the way for strengthening the rural economy. Willing to partner with the Indian School of Business (ISB) to provide inputs and research support. ISB will provide the business model and technology to make this project a success, as well as ensure adequate market linkages.
