Washington: US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the importance of technology partnership between the US and India. The spokesperson of the US President has given this information. In their talks, the two leaders committed to continue working together and in groups such as the ‘Quad’ (quadrilateral security dialogue) to expand cooperation on shared priorities and advance economic development. The two leaders spoke on phone after the announcement of the historic agreement between ‘Air India’ and ‘Boeing’. Under this agreement, Air India will buy 200 aircraft from the American aircraft manufacturer.

In a press conference, the White House press secretary, the US President’s official office, Karin Jean Pierre, said that ‘they (Modi and Biden) also discussed the importance of technology partnership between India and the US. The two leaders reaffirmed the strength of the US-India relationship and committed to continuing to work together and in groups such as the ‘Quad’ to expand cooperation on their shared priorities and advance economic growth. Australia, India and Japan have held the long-pending ‘Quad’ summit to develop a new strategy to keep critical sea lanes in the vital region free from influence amid China’s growing military presence in the Indo-Pacific region. The proposal for establishment took shape in November 2017.

Asked whether Biden invited Prime Minister Modi to the White House this summer, Pierre said, “I won’t comment on that, but they had a good conversation.” According to the press secretary, they talked about Boeing and Discussed the historic agreement between Air India. Pierre said, “President Biden mentioned how this sale will help more than one million American jobs in 44 states and how Air India will help meet the growing demands for air transportation in India.” ‘ Announcing the agreement between Boeing-Air India, Biden said that he along with Prime Minister Modi wants to deepen the relationship between India and America.

According to an announcement by the US President’s Office ‘White House’, an agreement has been reached between Boeing and Air India, under which Air India will buy 220 aircraft from Boeing for $34 billion. These include 190 B737 Max, 20 B787, and 10 B777X. The deal will have an option to buy 70 more aircraft, taking the total transaction value to $45.9 billion. Earlier in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in New Delhi, it was said that the two leaders had a warm and productive conversation. Modi had said in a tweet, “It was a pleasure to speak with President Joe Biden.” We welcome the historic Air India and Boeing agreement, which will help create new opportunities for both countries. This has resulted in strong growth in all sectors.
