During the talks, the two leaders also discussed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Modi to France in July for ‘Bastille Day’ (National Day of France). The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders took stock of bilateral relations between India and France in various fields. The two leaders discussed the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Modi to France for Bastille Day and took stock of the progress in the India-France Strategic Partnership.

Cooperation in trade and economic fields, including civil aviation, renewable energy, culture, co-production and manufacturing in the defense sector, civil nuclear cooperation were discussed, the ministry said. Both the leaders agreed to expand the partnership to new areas. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Prime Minister thanked President Macron for France’s support for India’s G-20 chairmanship. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional developments and global challenges.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi thanked Macron for inviting him as a special guest at the Bastille Day Parade in Paris on July 14 this year. A contingent of the Indian Armed Forces will also participate in the parade along with their French counterparts. The ministry said that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Indo-French strategic partnership, Prime Minister Modi has accepted the invitation of French President Macron.
