PM Modi UAE Visit: Burj Khalifa illuminated with tricolor, after France now Modi-Modi in UAE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Saturday on a one-day visit to the United Arab Emirates. While PM Modi was welcomed at the airport, the Burj Khalifa was illuminated with the tricolor. PM Modi UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will call on Al Nahyan and review the growing bilateral ties between the two strategic partners. After a successful two-day visit to Paris, Modi arrived in Abu Dhabi where he joined French President Emmanuel Macron as the guest of honor at the Bastille Day parade and signed several agreements to strengthen bilateral ties. Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Sheikh Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Prime Minister Modi said in his departure statement that I look forward to meeting my friend His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He said that our two countries are engaged in a wide range of areas such as trade, investment, energy, food security, science and technology, education, fintech, defence, security and strong people-to-people ties.

Energy, food security and defense top the agenda

Energy, food security and defense are expected to be focus areas of Modi’s visit to the UAE, during which the two countries will review progress in bilateral ties following the signing of a historic trade deal. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which gave a new impetus to the economic engagement between the two countries, was signed during the COVID-19 pandemic. India and UAE are engaged in various fields such as trade, investment, energy, food security, science and technology, education, fintech, defence, security and strong people-to-people ties. The Indian expatriate community is the largest ethnic community in the UAE, accounting for about 30 percent of the country’s population. According to UAE records, the number of resident Indian nationals in 2021 was estimated to be 3.5 million.
