The Heliapolis War Memorial or War Cemetery is located in Port Tewfik. The names of about 4,000 Indian soldiers who fought in the First World War are inscribed here. The memorial is dedicated to the memory of the 3,727 Indian soldiers who died fighting in several campaigns in Egypt and Palestine in World War I. The Port Tevfik Monument was unveiled in 1926. It is located at the main gate of the Suez Canal. Port Tevfik is now known as Port Suez.
