Seoul: Association leaders are accused of inciting trainee doctors to strike. The police action came a day after a government-imposed deadline for trainee doctors to return to work after thousands of interns and resident doctors quit their jobs on February 20, Yonhap news agency reported.

Thousands of interns and resident doctors have refused to serve in hospitals since Tuesday last week in protest against the government’s plan to increase the medical school admission quota by 2,000 seats next year.
The government had set a deadline for the striking doctors to return to work by Thursday. If he did not do so, he was warned of suspension of his medical license. Earlier, the police had warned that if the doctors did not join police questioning in connection with the walkout, they would face arrest.
