Interestingly, the police proceeded to arrest the PTI leader despite submitting an affidavit in the Islamabad High Court that he did not violate Section 144 and not participate in the protests.

Minutes after his release, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has escaped arrest for the time being. The police seemed prepared to take steps to detain the former information minister. After getting bail from the IHC, Fawad Chaudhary was sitting in his car and had barely moved when he saw Anti-Terrorism Squad personnel coming towards him. As soon as he saw the police moving towards him, the PTI leader got out of his car and fled into the premises of the IHC to avoid arrest.

Interestingly, the police proceeded to arrest the PTI leader despite submitting an affidavit in the Islamabad High Court that he did not violate Section 144 and not participate in the protests. Earlier today, the IHC declared the arrest of PTI leaders Fawad, Shireen Mazari and Senator Falak Naz under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) as “illegal”.

The orders to release the PTI leaders were issued by Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb’s court while hearing separate petitions. Islamabad’s Advocate General Barrister Jahangir Jadoon appeared before the single judge bench during the hearing of Fawad Chaudhary. The lawyer said that I want to place some facts before the court. He said even biometric verification of the PTI leader was not done on the petition. On this, the judge reprimanded the lawyer saying that he is not a judge and it is the right of the court to see whether biometrics has been done or not.
