Preparation to increase petrol prices before Eid, government may increase it by Rs 10-11 per liter

islamabad (Uttam Hindu News): Pakistan’s cash-strapped economy has taken a toll on the lives of its citizens, adding to their struggles, misery and suffering with a steady rise in inflation. Now the government is going to announce another big increase in petrol prices. With Eid-ul-Fitr only ten days away, the government can increase the rate by at least Rs 10-11 per litre.

Government sources say that the increase in fuel price will be announced on Sunday. The increase is due to higher import premium and global prices. Petrol prices are likely to increase, a government source said. But the price of another key fuel, high-speed diesel (HSD), is likely to fall by Rs 2 per litre. Economic expert Khaliq Kiani said, “The import price of petrol has increased by about $4 per barrel. Therefore, the price of petrol is expected to increase. After the increase, the price of petrol in Pakistan will exceed Rs 290 per liter.

Last year, the working class and common man paid more taxes, said a local resident of Islamabad. And again, the government wants to put more burden on the people with the increase in fuel prices.

An auto-rickshaw driver from Rawalpindi said, I want to ask the government to please tell me how to run my house and my children? I drive an auto-rickshaw every day and earn Rs 800 to Rs 1000 on an average. Now my earnings will reduce further. I cannot drive my auto-rickshaw. And with a daily earning of less than Rs 800, my family would be forced to eat only once a day.

Another local resident of Islamabad said, “We used to buy groceries for a month earlier. Now, it has come down to 15 days. And due to inflation and high prices of basic commodities, we have had to compromise on many things.
