Vladivostok, September 13 (HS). Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the Make in India program during an event organized on Tuesday, saying that a lot can be learned from it. He said that Prime Minister Modi is doing the right thing by encouraging the use and production of Indian products among Indians.
Addressing the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) held in the Russian port city of Vladivostok, Putin said domestically produced automobiles should be used. India under the leadership of Narendra Modi has already set an example through this policy. He said this while discussing about cars manufactured in Russia.
He said that in the 1990s we did not have domestically manufactured cars but now we do. It’s true that they look quite modest compared to the Mercedes or Audis that we bought in droves in the 1990s but that’s not the point. Putin said we should learn from our partners like India who are mostly focusing on the production and use of Indian-made cars and ships. The Prime Minister is encouraging people to use the Made in India brand. We also have those vehicles available and we should use them.
