Shimul Kumbhkar, president of a faction of the Dhaka University students’ union involved in making the statue, told UNB, “Dhaka University’s proctor removed the statue at night and cut it into two parts. We collected the broken parts from Suhrawardy Udyan and reinstalled it.” Responding to the student union leader’s remarks, the university’s proctor told UNB, “We didn’t break the statue, we just put it on. transferred from there.
