Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on US tour. During his tour he traveled by truck. Rahul Gandhi took a truck ride from Washington DC to New York with truck driver Taljinder Singh. The Congress leader was seen talking to the truck driver during his 190 km long journey. But as soon as he told his earnings, Rahul was stunned. The truck driver told Rahul that he earns 8-10 thousand dollars a month.
Gandhi recalled his truck ride in India from Murthal to Ambala, once from Ambala to Chandigarh and once from Delhi to Chandigarh. Gandhi explained how American trucks were built with drivers in mind. Trucks in India were not designed for driver comfort. Singh also said that American trucks are equipped with better safety measures as compared to Indian trucks. The two also discussed the possibility of a minimum wage and credit facility for refueling for Indian drivers. Singh said truck drivers in India are away from their families for 8-10 days at a time, and it’s tougher than drivers with families here who can do that and survive.
Singh also talked about Indian politics and economy. BJP followers there do not talk about unemployment, no one talks about education or becoming better in life. They don’t talk about humanity. He said, “There is so much inflation and people have now understood that true religion is when one helps others. Everyone is free to follow their religion.
