Rain and thunderstorm wreak havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, 28 killed, more than 140 injured

Islamabad (Best Hindu News)- Heavy rains and thunderstorms lashed several parts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, killing 28 people and injuring over 140.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, 25 people were killed and 145 injured in rain-related incidents in KP’s Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak and Lakki Marwat. At least 69 houses have been partially damaged due to the rains, news agency ANI quoted Geo News as saying. According to reports, 15 people died in Bannu and another 100 were injured. Also, 68 houses have been damaged in the area. Meanwhile, at least five people were killed and another 42 injured in Lakki Marwat district. Apart from this, four people were killed and another person was injured in Karak.
Talking about Dera Ismail Khan, a child was killed there and two other people are said to be injured, while a house was also partially damaged. Relief and rescue operations are underway in Lakki Marwat Bannu and other parts of the province in view of the damage caused by the heavy rains. According to officials, the rescue and relief operations of Rescue 1122 are underway and all the injured are being taken to the hospital for treatment. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Information Minister Barrister Firoz Jamal Shah said, “High alert has been issued in the hospitals of the affected districts.” The interim government is in contact with the authorities in the affected areas.
