Rainfall in Shenzhen of China broke 71 years old record

Shenzhen: Torrential rains in Shenzhen city of Guangdong province in China on Thursday night broke the 71-year-old record. The municipal meteorological bureau said here today that the average rainfall from 5 pm to 6 am Thursday to Friday in Shenzhen city was 202.8 mm and the maximum cumulative rainfall was 469 mm. The Bureau said that the rainfall in the city is a wide range of extremely intense, prolonged and torrential rains which include four rainfall records, two-hour, three-hour, six-hour and 12-hour maximum rainfall. Due to this rain, the record of rainfall in Shenzhen in 1952 has been broken.
The Bureau has predicted that heavy rain will continue here on Friday also. Shenzhen’s flood, drought and storm control headquarters issued a notice on Friday morning, directing primary and secondary schools and kindergartens across the city to remain closed today for the safety of citizens and property.
He said service would remain suspended on parts of six subway lines. Enterprises and public institutions in Luohu district, which was badly hit by rain, and residents living in the district will also remain closed on Friday. Authorities cautioned people to stay away from dangerous areas such as mountains, rivers, slopes and retaining walls.
