Mother Bharati’s Today, we are breathing in a free country only because of the martyrdom of the war bankers who sacrificed every moment of their life, every happiness at their feet and hanged themselves laughingly. It is the result of the penance done by these Ranbankurs to free India from the shackles of slavery that the countrymen still remember and remember them and their martyrdom. Roshan Singh was an Indian revolutionary of India’s freedom struggle who was convicted in the Bareilly Shooting Case during the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1921–22. As soon as he was released from Bareilly Central Jail to live a peaceful life, he joined the Hindustan Republican Association in 1924 as soon as he came out. While he had no hand in the Kakori massacre, he was arrested and sentenced to death by the British government.

Revolutionary Thakur Roshan Singh was born on 22 January 1892 in an Arya Samaji family in village Nabada located in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. His mother’s name was Kaushalya Devi and father’s name was Thakur Jangi Singh. He was the eldest of five siblings. This village was mainly inhabited by Kshatriya people and this village was famous for courage and bravery. At that time, due to the very low custom of reading and writing in the village, Thakur Sahib started learning sword, gun, mace etc. from his childhood. He was so proficient in firing a gun that he used to kill even a flying bird with ease. Even in wrestling, he used to lick the good ones in a jiffy. Along with being courageous, he used to exercise a lot, due to which his body became very strong. The feeling of patriotism was deeply ingrained from childhood. of 1921-22. Mahatma Gandhi had started the non-cooperation movement against the British rule. The youth of the whole of India were determined to sell their houses and homes to make that movement successful.

From the very beginning of the non-cooperation movement, he also started working in it and kept on telling the message of Swaraj to the villagers by roaming around in the villages of Shahjahanpur and Bareilly districts. Thousands and lakhs of Indian youth who had taken a direct stand against the British rule had been or were being languished in Indian jails because of that movement. 31-year-old brave martyr Thakur Roshan Singh, hungry for India’s freedom, who snatched the gun of a British policeman in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh and opened fire on the crowd present there. After being arrested, the punishment for this crime was fixed at two years’ rigorous imprisonment. He had returned home after serving his sentence in Bareilly Central Jail. It was in Bareilly Central Jail that he met Mr. Pandit Ramdulare Trivedi, a resident of Kanpur, who was serving a six-month sentence in Bareilly Central Jail as a result of the non-cooperation movement started in Pilibhit. After being released, Thakur Roshan Singh joined the same Republican Association in 1924, which was headed by the young revolutionaries of Shahjahanpur, Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Rajendra Nath Lahiri. Enthusiasts for the freedom of India and enemies of the British rule of the whites with black intentions, having the support of these heroes, all would have made plans to remove the lack of funds for the freedom struggle. In the end, to remove this deficiency, the way of robbery was adopted by the revolutionaries of Ireland. This work was named Action by the party. The first dacoity in the name of action was committed at Bamrauli, a village in Pilibhit district, on 25 December 1924 at the place of Baldev Prasad, a sugar merchant and usurer. In this first dacoity, 4000 rupees and some gold and silver jewelery fell into the hands of the revolutionaries. But a man named Mohanlal Pahalwan, who challenged him, was killed by a single bullet fired from the rifle of the infallible shooter, Mr. Thakur Roshan Singh. Mohanlal’s death became the reason for the hanging of Shri Thakur Roshan Singh.

Due to paucity of funds for ammunition, a plan was made to loot the government treasury. On August 9, 1925, the government treasury was looted by stopping a passenger train near Kakori railway station. On 26 September 1925, he was arrested by the British police in that train robbery case. Whereas on turning the history, it is also read on some of its pages that Thakur Roshan Singh had no direct hand in the matter of looting the treasury of the British rule from the train in Kakori. Yes, his face was exactly similar to Keshav Chakraborty involved in that scandal. Keshav Chakraborty did not fall into the hands of the white government. Therefore, the judge present in the dumb-deaf court of whites did not listen to one of Thakur Roshan Singh and, rejecting his every argument, sentenced him to 7 years of labor under sections 120 (b) and 121 (a) and death under section 396. Gone. Thakur Roshan Singh was also hanged like Ramprasad Bismil, Rajendranath Lahiri and Ashfaq Ullah Khan in the context of the Kakori incident. Although people expected that he would get imprisonment, but in reality he had to get fame as well and hanging was the best medium for that. Hearing the death sentence, he chanted Omkar in the court and then became silent. He was an exclusive worshiper of Mantra. Mr. Roshan Singh also appealed against this decision like all others had appealed to the High Court, the Viceroy and the Emperor; But the result was the same – three leaves of dhak.
Along with Roshan Singh, three other Ranbankurs were also sentenced to death.

Fearing that those four convicted drunkards of freedom might disappear from the jail on the day of hanging, the fearful British government hanged Rajendra Nath Lahiri, who was lodged in Gonda Jail, on 17 December 1927, two days before the scheduled date. Immortalized forever. Those three bravehearts were Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri. The British Government had decided that these four would be hanged on the gallows on December 19, 1927 in Gorakhpur, Allahabad and Gonda Jail respectively. Roshan Singh had to spend a very painful life for eight months in Malaka Jail. Thakur Roshan Singh slept for a few hours on the first night before hanging. Then from late night itself, I kept on worshiping God. In the morning, after retiring from defecation etc, took bath and meditated as per the rules. Spent some time reading the Gita, then said to the watchman – Come on. He bowed down to his dungeon and walked towards the gallows house with Gita in his hand. Kissed the gallows, then loudly proclaimed Vande Mataram three times. He hanged himself on December 19, 1927, while chanting the Veda mantra. At that time, he was so calm, as if a yogi is doing his spiritual practice with ease. On December 6, 1927, he wrote a letter to his friends from jail that he was going to be hanged soon. I have full faith that after ending the painful journey of the world, I am now going to live a life of ease. It is written in our scriptures that the person who gives his life in the war of religion has the same speed as the sages who do penance while living in the forest.
