Pujya Bapu while wishing all Indians Happy Independence Day from Cambridge University said that it is a good initiative to invite fishermen, teachers and farmers to celebrate Independence Day. Perhaps for the first time such a large number of common people were invited as guests in this function.
Significantly, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the whole country is celebrating the 77th Independence Day grandly from the Red Fort. Apart from top political leaders, officials, judges and other dignitaries, the central government invited 1,800 people from different walks of life to attend the ceremony as part of the celebrations.
According to officials, over 400 village sarpanches, 300 farmers, 50 primary school teachers, nurses and fishermen from across the country were invited as guests for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Also included in the list of special guests were 50 construction workers who were involved in the construction of the new parliament and 50 workers who were involved in building highways and other projects. 75 couples were present in traditional attire.
Pujya Bapu’s Ramkatha is currently running at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. This Ramkatha is a celebration of the long-standing relationship between India and English culture. This Ramkatha will end on 20 August.
